St Alban2
the organists

                        Nigel Walton

Nigel Walton, a graduate of Bristol and Cambridge universities has been organist at Alban’s Church since 1979 and was the third this century when he took up the post, succeeding Lyall Keens who had been organist and choirmaster for 40 years!
He left St Alban’s in 1986 and returned 4 years later. Nigel is ably assisted by his wife Nicky, who trains the Junior Choir in which the children are trained to enter the main choir. The youngest chorister is only 3years old!

Chris Cox, sadly passed away just before Chrismas 2006. There is an article and photograph of him in a separate article on the site.

Ed Davies, who is Director of Music at St Mary Redcliffe School now plays for our Evensongs and choral performances. His two daughters also sing in the Junior Choir.

Simon Hogan, an exceptionally talented young organist until recently played for our evening services and choral performances. He had been playing for us since the age of 14 - He is in great demand as a recitalist in churches and cathedrals and is very much worth hearing. His ambition is to become a cathedral organist. He now is now organ scholar at Salisbury Cathedral - no mean achievement for a for someone who is 18 years old! We look forward to following his career with great interest.
He gave his farewell recital at St Alban’s Church on Sat July 21st 2007. Since then he has been back to play for our 9 Lessons and Carols and 2 Evensongs. He still practises on the St Alban’s organ.
